OUR MISSION 

The Marcus Garvey in Schools Foundation is a charitable organisation dedicated to empowering Jamaicans through the teachings of the Rt. Excellent Marcus Garvey, fostering self-awareness and promoting financial literacy by developing educational resources, and facilitating teacher training in schools across the island.

ONE DESTINY CONCERT

On October 20, 2024, the Marcus Garvey in Schools Foundation will host the inaugural One Destiny Concert — a fundraising event in support of expanding the foundation’s ongoing educational programmes in basic, primary and high schools to all 14 parishes.

The Marcus Garvey in Schools Foundation develops educational resources and facilitates teacher training in schools across Jamaica. The mission is to foster self-awareness and financial literacy among youth of all ages. The foundation’s programmes are inspired by the philosophies and opinions of Jamaica’s first National Hero, the Rt. Excellent Marcus Mosiah Garvey. Our educational resources are approved by the Ministry of Education and Youth, and the Early Childhood Commission.

The Marcus Garvey in Schools Foundation is raising funds to expand access to its educational resources and teacher training programmes, and to advance the foundation’s efforts to lobby for implementation of Marcus Garvey’s teachings in schools, at all levels, islandwide.

The Marcus Garvey in Schools Foundation is guided by an Advisory Council under the Chairmanship of Major (Ret’d) Effiom B. Whyte. The Council brings together educators and Garveyites, including Professors Rupert Lewis and Clinton Hutton, Dr. Donna Wright, Ms. Deborah Amos, Mrs. Millicent DaCosta, Mr. Chuk Cameron, and other partners from the corporate sector and creative industries.

The Marcus Garvey In Schools Foundation was established and awarded charity status in Jamaica in November 2022.
